It’s been ages and forever since I posted last. I feel like I am getting further and further away between posts, and pretty soon I will post once a year, if that. I will blend into obscurity, never to be seen in the blogging world again…
but let’s end on a high note, shall we?

I’ve spent this month mainly doing NaNoWriMo or procrastinating about NaNoWriMo. I also bought my own laptop with money earned from my job.

That is about it. Maybe when my life stops being so hectic I will have things to say.

A mighty dilemma evaluates my atmosphere in a vocal sect.

Oh wow, it’s been nearly a month since I last posted. I now have a job: I’m a courtesy clerk at Safeway. I’ve been working there a little over two weeks. I got my second paycheck today and it still feels really, really weird to actually have money to spend. I haven’t bought anything yet. I think I may save most of it, or maybe buy a camera or something.

My Star Trek t-shirt arrived last week, finally. Rachel and I wore them to school on the same day and it was grand. I haven’t watched as much Star Trek lately as I wish I had, although Rachel and I are going to be red shirts for Halloween and are having a sleepover this week to plan our costumes.

Oh, Homecoming was a blast, by the way. I went with Kaitlyn, Lizzy, and Rachel to a pizza place for dinner and after the dance we went to Lizzy’s house for a sleepover. It was so much fun!

I’m not sure if I mentioned this, but I have six penpals. I only meant to have one or two, but one thing turned to another and… anyway, I received my first letter in the mail today, from Minhee in Korea. She wrote on this very beautiful stationary and included a very tiny picture of herself. I need to think of something creative to do regarding the letter I write back to her.

I’ve watched quite a few movies lately, including, but not limited to (in order of rememberance):
*The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
*Bright Star (pre-viewing with my dad awhile ago)
*Kate and Leopold
and so on and so forth… for some reason I can’t remember any others at the moment…

I’ve done a bit of knitting lately, mainly a colorful scrappy scarf and part of a yellow hat (that was today). Other than the above, I’ve been busy with work and school and loads of other average things. My life’s been really great, lately, though.

I can’t wait for:
*Halloween
*Tomorrow (probably going with my father to Goodwill)
*Thursday (sleepover at Rachel’s house)
*November (NaNoWriMo!!!)
*Friday (getting my third paycheck/working)

Now, it’s rather late and I am very tired. I started watching a movie tonight called “La Moustache” and I think it’s going to end up being really good. I’m going to try and watch the rest tomorrow.

As a last note, I’m going to try and post here more often in the future. It’s been far too long.

School days have still been going by quickly. I’m hoping to go to Goodwill tomorrow.

Today I looked at knitting patterns on Ravelry for a very long time. One of the patterns I came across was a pointed yellow gnome-type hat. I read the pattern’s description and found that it was based on a movie called “The Point.” Naturally, curiosity got the better of me and I searched it on YouTube. What I found was marvelous. It turns out that “The Point” is a children’s movie made in the early 70’s (1971 to be exact). That alone would convince me to watch it, but then I saw that the narrator is RINGO STARR. So, of course, I had to watch it. I haven’t finished it yet, but I’m about forty-five minutes in and I really love it. I especially like all of the song in it. They’re absolutely lovely. They just don’t make movies like that anymore. I’m definitely going to be knitting the yellow hat some time after finishing the movie.

I also knit much of a green beret. The pattern is based on 1930’s berets, which is what initially peaked my interest. I really like things with a past, a historical inspiration, I suppose this case would be called. I used this handspun yarn my mother gave me awhile back. It’s ridiculously soft.

Lastly, I watched more of Ghostbusters, which I began watching the night before yesterday. I saw it quite a few times when I was younger, but after seeing about ten minutes of it in American Studies II class the other day (don’t ask…), I decided I needed to re-watch it for sure. Now I’m pretty far into it, and remembering why I liked it so very much as a child.

Earlier today baked carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting with Lydia. I also watched one and a half episodes of Star Trek (all of “Requiem for Methuselah” and part of “The Mark of Gideon”).

Well, cheerio now.

I am clear out of titles, and so I used a random sentence generator for this one. I may do that more often in the future.

This brief post will actually be about yesterday.

Yesterday I went to Costco and we got kiwis and veggie straws.

Later I made Kasha Varnishkes, a Jewish dish originally from Russia, I believe, though now it is eaten a lot in the lower east side of New York. That’s interesting, as my Jewish grandmother lived in the lower east side of New York and her family is from Russia. I guess Wikipedia is correct in saying its origins.

It consists of bowtie noodles with buckwheat and is quite possibly my favorite food. I always forget that, as I’ve only had it two or three times in my existence, but really. It’s good.

A bit after finishing it, I went to Safeway with my father and Clara. I bought two Sobe drinks, a pina colada one and black currant something or other. I really am liking those these days.

Speaking of Safeway, I neglected to mention that earlier in the day yesterday I applied for a job at Safeway. When we actually were at Safeway, my dad was chatting with the cashier and he said they are definitely hiring right now and that I will probably get a call soon. I hope so.

Yesterday, my mother helped me to block my Ishbel shawl. I have decided to call it Parsley, because it looks as much. In fact, speaking of the shawl, I believe it may have dried by now. I’ll check once I finish this post.

Hello, all. The laptop’s back to its not-exactly-pristine condition, but hey, it’s working. I have the feeling that it may stop working again any day now…

Anyway. Today was my older brother’s twentieth birthday. It’s hard to believe he’s no longer a teenager. For his dinner, he requested that it be completely vegan. We had tofu curry and it was actually rather good. For dessert we had vegan chocolate cupcakes with avocado frosting.

Yesterday Rachel came over after school. We watched “3:10 to Yuma” (the original), so chosen because it has a song by the same people who did the hilarious and catchy song from “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral,” which was initially chosen because DeForest Kelley was in it. The same people also made the song in “Blazine Saddles.” After the movie, we went into the woods behind my house. In the space of ten minutes, we went back inside because the insects gave each of us dozens of bites. Aside from that, there were loads of thorns in the woods and we subsequently got burrs and cuts and all sorts of other horrible side effects (I am most certainly exaggerating the awfulness of the situation). Once we were partly recovered from the incident, we went with my family to the high school football game. Rachel and I played Star Trek Uno and people-watched and tooks pictures and watched the Color Guard there. The Guard’s flags were beautiful. We hardly played any attention to the game and were many times quite surprised upon seeing that another jumble of points had been made. Our team won, anyway. I suppose that was good.

School is going well, flying by very quickly each day and not being that much of a hassle. Did I ever mention that there is a foreign exchange student from Germany in my American Studies II class? His name is Max and he also rides my bus. I am eager to get to know him although intimidated at the thought as well.

One of these days I will finally get around to making kasha varnishkas, which is a delightful dish consisting of bowtie noodles and buckwheat. It sounds a tad ridiculous but my mother has made it twice, I believe, and each time I have loved it to bits.

Another thing I’m going to hopefully soon get around to is knitting a specific pair of mittens that has three finger sections. There are three finger sections because they are mittens perfect for DOING THE VULCAN SALUTE. It would be a grand old time to wear them come winter. Or fall. I’m so anxious to wear my woolly things that I feel like, pretty soon, I’ll start wearing them regardless of how warm it is. I’ve been wearing cardigans nearly every day to school, and it doesn’t matter that much that it’s hot outside because the majority of my classes are iceboxes.

Well, well, well, I better be off. The computer’s evil powers have kept me on here long enough.

It seems extraordinarily impossible

…that I haven’t been on a computer for more than ten minutes in nearly a month. And yet, apparently it is so.

Today was the third day of school. After some schedule flipping-around, I am now in Sociology, American Studies II Honors, Child Development III, and German I. That’s for this semester. Next semester’s flipped around now as well, in equally positive ways. I now have lunch with Eleanor, Lizzy, Ashley, and Daniel. I did have lunch with Rachel and Alexandra, but with the class changes came a lunch shift change as well.

Without computer access, surprisingly, I’ve still found ways to keep myself entertained. I’ve done a lot of movie-watching and reading, as well as knitting, though not most recently. I’ve taken to writing in a journal every night, as I believe I’ve mentioned before, and I’ve actually been fairly good at keeping up with it.

First block, Sociology, is excellent simply because it is a very interesting class with a marvelously entertaining teacher.

Second block, American Studies II, has a great teacher as well. He is funny but not overly so, and seems to be very kind. Another plus is that I have that class with Wallie and Hannah.

Third block I only just started today, but I can tell it’s going to be grand. It’s Child Development III, and since it’s first semester I get to participate in the Halloween and Christmas festivities in the preschool.

Lastly is German I, which was quite difficult to get into. Luckily, somebody dropped it and so I was able to “swoop in” and claim my place. I have it with Rachel, so it is bound to be magnificent. Additionally, the teacher is extremely enthusiastic and an overall great teacher.

Now, goodbye. The computer’s still broken but my grandparents are away once more. I am using their computer this moment. This type of situation is most likely going to be the only posting from me for awhile, unfortunately.

Not to worry

The computer’s been broken for around a week now. I’m using my grandparents’ computer at the moment. I’m able to check my email and such on my mother’s fancy schmancy phone with internet access, but only just so often. So, probably no posts from me here for awhile.

In case you’re wondering what I’ve been up to, it’s more of the same old, same old. Knitting, reading, watching movies. That’s pretty much it.

I was ABOUT to watch a movie from the 90’s based on Charlie Chaplin’s life, but then I decided I should re-read the biography of Charlie Chaplin before doing so. I haven’t read it for nearly a year, it seems. Instead, I watched about twenty minutes of a documentary-type deal about character actors, and then about five minutes of a movie about zombie acceptance. The zombies movie was way too gory and full of cursing, so I ditched that effort and am now watching a movie called “Phoebe in Wonderland.” It is much grander thus far, and so colorful and surreal that it is lovely. I am also knitting more of the hat that looks like a fish. I’m decently far.

Other than the fascinating dilemmas above, I woke up around 12:30 pm after about eight and a half hours of sleep. Not long after, I was whisked off to Wednesday Club. Daniel and Danya were there as well. Rachel and I thought we saw this one crazy kid at the library, but it turned out to be a woman who had a similar hairstyle and wore a black shirt (that is the essence of this crazy kid’s appearance). Oh, I finally paid my overdue fines (altogether not as high as I thought– a little over eight dollars) and I bought two books from the “books for sale” section of the library (A Brief History of Time and The Undertaking). Fifty cents each. Not too shabby.

There are slightly possible plans for Rachel and I to go to a free movie night at the library tomorrow evening. They’ll be showing “Doubt,” which seems to be a thoroughly promising film.

Just got back

from the Half-Blood prince premiere. It’s nearly 4 in the morning, so this will be brief.

It really was great, though, as I tweeted, a lot was left out and a lot was added. Still, it was more than decent.

Later today will be Wednesday Club. I find that difficult to believe.

Earlier today, I was knitting a hat that looks like a fish and watching the remainder of series three of Doctor Who. Unfortunately, series four is not available for instant watch on Netflix, so I’ll have to actually wait for them to come in the mail now. What a bummer.

Indeed somewhat perhaps

I knitted a striped wrist/arm warmer today (with leftover Ravenclaw scarf yarn) and I’m toying with the idea of not knitting the other. I’ve been trying, lately, to get over feeling the need to match socks and the like perfectly together. I’ve also always been a stickler for wearing matching gloves, mittens, etc., but seriously, what is the need to match? This would also fit in nicely with the tealish armwarmer I made awhile back. I have yet to finish the second one, and that’s the same with a pair of neon colored socks I began knitting a long time ago. I haven’t finished the second one of that either. Anyway, I’m actually not completely finished with the above wrist/arm warmer. There will be buttons going up the side, and the buttons haven’t been sewn on yet. So, really, it won’t be done until I do that.

According to my family and a few other people who commented on this during school times, my clothes hardly ever match. I like it that way. So, why not get used to the idea of other clothing-like items not matching? Anybody have any advice for me to branch out into the world of mismatched socks, gloves, etc.?

While knitting the above (and while not knitting the above), I watched A Very Potter Musical in its entirety. It is over three hours altogether, I believe. I almost just added together all the times to see precisely how long it is, but then stopped myself. It’s not worth the effort at the moment. Regardless, the musical was phenomenal. It really was. I laughed so, so many times. The characters were exaggerated to the perfect extent, and each had the most amusing little quirks. If you haven’t seen it already, I highly recommend it. Search for “StarKidPotter” or “Harry Potter musical” on YouTube and you’ll be able to find it easily.

I also watched half an hour more of “For Keeps.” It’s okay, though definitely a bit Lifetime channelish. Still, it has Molly Ringwald, and she’s marvelous.

Tomorrow night Rachel and I will be going to the Harry Potter premiere. Her mother will bring us there and drop us off, and my mother will pick us up and bring us home at 3 am. It’s so weird to think we’ll be out somewhere in the middle of the night like that. It’s a midnight premiere, and I have never been to one of those. Though I love Harry Potter so horribly much, I never went to any of the book or movie premieres. Maybe it’s because my love for Harry Potter was sort of a solitary obsession. I didn’t talk about it very often to friends, much less family (they’re the sort [especially Clara] to enjoy seeing the movies and never even read the books, whereas I always feel as if I have some loyalty to the book of a movie, making sure to read the book before seeing the movie, if I am aware of it). I despise, for some reason, how Clara claims to love Harry Potter so much and she says she hates the books. She’s never even tried reading them. I don’t know why, but it positively infuriates me that she acts this way. It’s almost as if I can’t help it.

EDIT: And you can bet I have my jujyfruits ready for the premiere.
